Want to help organize a retreat in your area? Southern Breeze is an all volunteer organization. We depend on the support of our member volunteers to set up and schedule local events in our region. If you want to have a writers or illustrators’ retreat, contact your Local Liaison and work with them to set up an event that you would want to attend. No Local Liaison in your area? Volunteer! Contact our Membership Coordinator will provide you with information about the volunteer job.

January 7, 10:30am: (free) Local Liaison Suzanne Purvis has a monthly meet-up in the Florida Panhandle area for critique and fun. Her January event was held on January 7th, but contact Suzanne if you’d like to join the fun.
January 19, 2pm: (free) “How to Write A Children’s Book for Today’s Market” Join award-winning author Lola M. Schaefer for a 90-minute workshop where you will brainstorm marketable ideas, practice the elements of craft, and work on character, plot, and conflict. Whether you’re interested in writing picture books, easy readers, or middle grade novels, you will walk away with tools that will help you begin and sustain your writing to completion. January 22, 7-9pm: It’s the Pre-Pitch Party! We’re having a Zoom meeting from 7:00 to 9:00 PM (Eastern Time) for all those Breezers attending wik’20 who’ve signed up for the Pitch Party. We’ll work on those :30 pitches and get them pitch-perfect for the agents and editors on the Pitch Panel. If you’ve never attended an online meeting before, you’ll find Zoom as easy as clicking on a link so come join us! And even if you’re just thinking about registering for wik’20 and signing up for the Pitch Party, please feel free to join in the fun. It’s free (but it’s for members only!)

January 25th, 1- 4pm: (free) Local Liaison Rhonda Knight invites you to a writing workshop at the Suwanee Public Library, 361 Main St, Suwanee,GA. In this workshop, you’ll practice how to get started in writing a children’s book or story, and you’ll practice how to write as a Co-author or team. There will be an opportunity to share your work for feedback, so come join the fun! This event is co-sponsored by the Gwinnett Public Library, and as always, it’s free. Rhonda Knight’s books will be available for purchase following the workshop.
