July 25, 6-8pm: Online Gallery Show: Since the Decatur Arts Festival was cancelled this year, Southern Breeze’s annual gallery show in partnership with the Georgia Center for the Book is going online! Join us Saturday evening July 25 via Zoom as the participating illustrators tour us through their work. The art will remain on display online for a period of time after the opening event, as it usually would at the Decatur Library. Many thanks to Illustrator Coordinator TeMika Grooms and Joe Davitch and Ally Wright from the Georgia Center for the Book for their hard work putting this together.

  • Tip of the month:

It’s grants and awards season! SCBWI offers several opportunities for members to have promising work recognized with financial assistance and industry attention. The full list is here: . Three that take submissions during March each year are the Karen Cushman Late Bloomer Award for unpublished writers over the age of 50, the A. Orr Fantasy Grant for middle grade and young adult writers of all types of speculative fiction, and the  Work-In-Progress grant for, well, works in progress (although you do have to have a full draft to apply). Check out the details on these and more at the link above, and see if your work fits one of these opportunities.
